Official KUSA Breed Standard for the Boston Terrier
https://www.kusa.co.za/index.php/documents/breed-standards/utility-group/1869-boston-terrier-2
"COLOUR: Brindle, seal or black with white markings; brindle must show throughout body distinctly; (Note: SEAL DEFINED. Seal appears black except it has a red cast when viewed in sun or bright light.), but brindles with white markings preferred. Ideal markings; white muzzle, even white blaze over head, collar, breast, part of whole of forelegs, and hind legs below hocks."
I have received queries in the past regarding non-standard colours like red, blue, fawn, white, etc. We at Morrizani Boston Terriers DO NOT breed these colours. These are
DISQUALIFIED COLOURS not recognized by any breed standard and it is a money making fad.
Newcomers to the breed are cautioned that these colours are not rare, nor desirable.
They are simply incorrect and due to the fact that KUSA does not accept or register
them as they do not have a traceable pedigree to start with, no guarantee on any health issues that may be hidden can be given to a new prospective owner.
PLEASE DO NOT BE MISLED BY BACKYARD BREEDERS ON COLOUR.
This type of breeder is not a breeder that has the breed's best interest at heart. To
promote these dogs as exceptional, rare or as acceptable breeding stock, in order to
entice a sale, is misleading the buyer and is breeding to the detriment of the breed.
Furthermore, puppies with majority white head and body markings or blue eyes are
not suitable for breeding purposes due to the extreme piebald gene, which is directly
linked to deafness. Before purchasing such a pup, the buyer should insist on having it BAER (brainstem auditory evoked response) hearing tested so that the purchaser is
aware of the fact that he/she is possibly buying a bilateral deaf dog. Boston Terriers
with too much white should NEVER EVER be bred with.
